8560E Portable Spectrum Analyzer, 30Hz-2.9GHzServices
Description
We are specialists in the repair of the Agilent/HP 8560E spectrum analyzers. The Agilent 8560E portable, color display RF spectrum analyzer offers the measurement capability and performance previously found in larger, more expensive benchtop analyzers. This analyzer combines outstanding phase noise, sensitivity, 1 Hz resolution bandwidths, synthesized tuning and wide dynamic range in a package built to withstand environmental conditions. It offers a complete solution for adjacent-channel power (ACP) testing of burst carrier signals using digital modulation, and the ability to measure occupied bandwidth percentage.

HP / Agilent 8560E Error Codes (ERR 100–922) – click to expand
HP / Agilent 8560E Error Codes
When the HP / Agilent 8560E (30 Hz to 2.9 GHz) finds a problem, it posts an ERR code in the lower-right corner of the display. Only one code shows at a time. Press RECALL, MORE 1 OF 2, RECALL ERRORS, then use the arrow keys to see the rest. Write them all down; the first hardware code is usually the root cause.
First step: save your state, press PRESET, CAL, REALIGN LO & IF and let it finish. If a code between 200 and 799 returns, the 8560E needs service.
8560E notes
- The 8560E has a CRT display driven by a high-voltage module. A dim, blank or distorted screen usually has no ERR code at all.
- FADC codes ERR 202–207 and ERR 760 only apply to an 8560E with Option 007 (fast digitized sweeps).
- The 8560E input can be AC or DC coupled (AC is the power-on default). Keep DC under 0.2 V when DC coupled to protect the input mixer.
- The 8560E tops out at 2.9 GHz and has no preselector, so preselector commands return ERR 143.
- With Option 002 the 8560E has a built-in tracking generator (300 kHz to 2.9 GHz). ERR 900 and 901 refer to it; Option 002 also removes the IF input and external mixing.
